One week out from the March 8 NHL Trade Deadline, we continue to deliver at least one deadline-focused story per day on Daily Faceoff. Today, we revisit the wildest Trade Deadline in NHL history as its 30th anniversary approaches.
Former New York Rangers great Brian Leetch was one of the greatest defensemen in NHL history. He is eighth all-time in points (1,028) and is one of seven to accumulate more than 1,000 points in his career (247 goals and 781 assists).
Brian Leetch may very well be the greatest player drafted by the New York Rangers. Before 1991, only four defensemen had ever scored more than 100 points in the regular season: Bobby Orr (six times), Paul Coffey (five), Denis Potvin (once), and Al MacInnis (once).
Brain Leetch was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame on Sunday in Tampere, Finland. The IIHF announced their Hall of Fame class back in December of 2022.
